HOW TO GET THERE?

The city of SZEGED is located about 175 km south of Budapest in Hungary, near the Serbian border.

1) ARRIVAL to Hungary by airplane

If you come to Hungary by plane, you will arrive to Ferihegy airport near Budapest. At the airport there are 2 main terminals: TERMINAL 1 and TERMINAL 2A/2B. (Buses circulate between the 2 terminals). In order to go to Szeged, you can take the train at TERMINAL 1 directly to Szeged. There is no need to go to Budapest for taking the train. Train tickets from Ferihegy airport to Szeged have to be purchased directly at the airport. Trains pass every hour and the journey lasts 2 hours. The exact timetable can be found at: http://elvira.mav-start.hu/ In order to get the schedule towards Szeged, enter the following: FROM: Ferihegy,  TO: Szeged. In order to get from Szeged back to Ferihegy airport, enter the contrary. Train tickets will cost about 15 EUR (btw. 3850 HUF – 4210 HUF) one way, 30 EUR two ways. (btw 7 700 HUF – 8420 HUF). For some trains you will also need to purchase seat reservation. For the directions between the train station in Szeged and the forum’s venue, please see the Google map linked into the registration page.

2) ARRIVAL to Hungary by train

By train you will probably arrive to the Central Train Station (Keleti pu., international trains). From here you will need to go to the Western Train Station (Nyugati pu.). The easiest way to do it is to take the metro line 2 (red line) at directly at Keleti, go for 2 stops, get off at Deak tér (Deak square, where all 3 metro lines cross), change for metro line 3 (blue line), go 2 stops and get off at Nyugati pu. (see metro map below). Metro tickets can be purchased at Keleti metro station. Trains pass every hour and the journey lasts 2 hours. For the timetable, please check the details above (instead of Ferihegy, enter Budapest). The one way train tickets between Budapest and Szeged will cost around 17 EUR (4200 HUF – 4560 HUF), two way tickets will cost about 34 EUR (8400 HUF – 9120 HUF). For some trains you will also need to purchase seat reservation. Metro map of Budapest
